Second ABT Executive Luncheon provokes thought on just what is an employee.
The second in a series of ABT Executive Luncheons was held on the 16th February 2011.
The ABT Executive Luncheon series brings together select groups of influential business executives in an environment encouraging open discussion of business issues.
Guest speaker at the second luncheon was CEO of CD&A, Chris Delaney, detailing his view when determining when a worker is an employee and when they are an independent contractor in the eyes of employment and taxation law. Chris was also the first luncheons extremely well received guest speaker.
CD&A is an independent HR consultancy.
Chris's talk was extremely thought-provoking and not just a little bit disturbing for the assembled executives. By-passing the well documented and predictable tests provided by the ATO and independent advice, Chris drilled-down into the core issues and regaled invitees with some far-too familiar anecdotes on the subject.
The Executive Luncheons are not only are a chance for senior business leaders to learn about business relevant topics but the convivial and open atmosphere certainly unearths some interesting, relevant and useful conversation.
Invitees enjoyed a three-course fine dining experience accompanied by an outstanding selection of wines personally chosen by Frank O'Donoghue, Sales Director at ABT.
As per the first luncheon, the meal selection combined with Frank's wine choices and stimulating conversation made for an excellent afternoon.
With the success of the first two Executive Luncheons, getting a spot at the table is becoming increasing difficult as word spreads of the luncheons real value. If you would like to attend the next CEO luncheon please contact Lisa Coates on 9878 7112 or email: Lisa.Coates@abtgroup.com.au
