Optus Prepaid Services fast-track Pronto Software with ABT

Prepaid Services (OPS) is wholly owned subsidiary of Optus that handles the sales and distribution of Optus, Boost and Virgin prepaid mobile, Internet and phone card products.

Background

Prepaid Services was a small start-up operation with limited resources which grew rapidly. Prepaid Services operates with a centralised telemarketing centre, warehouse and field sales and merchandising team.

The need arose for a powerful, reliable and reasonably priced accounts and inventory package to manage stock, invoicing and orders across its 3,000 strong customer base.

Enter ABT

ABT was engaged to design the system and project manage its deployment.

Adam Morris, Financial Controller at Prepaid Services at the time, had experience with ABT and their Pronto ERP solution rolled-out across C2 One – the mobile phone chain purchased by Optus, so he saw countless advantages in going with ABT, first-hand.

The Solution

ABT’s Pronto ERP solution is widely respected across the industry as being the best business package for the mobile phone sector.

Its ability to track both serial numbers on phones from warehouse to retailer is unrivalled and makes it ideal for the prepaid business where no contract with the customer is made.

As Adam Morris explains, “ABT’s ability to handle the nuances of the mobile business are unsurpassed to my knowledge. We also chose to partner with ABT because it is well known for being a very cost effective solution for a company of our size, and its proven track record with our business partners at C2 One.”

Prepaid Services had a deadline of only six weeks to complete the deployment which included Financials, Distribution, CRM and Human Resources Pronto based modules.

As well as installation and configuration, General Ledger structures were transferred from C2 One and existing customer data from Boost to the new company, all within a month and a half.

The Result

According to Adam Morris, the deployment was entirely trouble-free. Not only was the deadline met, but on going live there were no teething problems. This came as a huge relief to Adam, “...in my 13 years’ experience of software roll-outs, I have never experienced such an easy transition. When we pressed the button at months end, everything was accurate and we were up and running.”

The Support

The implementation conducted by ABT’s experienced team was crucial in ensuring a trouble-free roll-out. ABT acts very much as an in-house, yet outsourced IT Department, working closely with the client to ensure there are no rough landings or nasty surprises.

Following the evaluation of a clients needs, flexible project management systems are put in place to make sure deadlines are met. ABT also provides 24hr tech support as well as training, hardware set-up and a fully managed services offering.

With the Pronto modules in place, Prepaid Services was able to hit its first month targets and business objectives were met.

The ABT partnership with Prepaid Services is proving to be a crucial factor in their success, as Adam Morris explains, “Pronto is our back-end operation and ABT, our IT dept. If these two didn’t perform well, we’d be struggling to get off the ground.

As it is, we’ve hit all our targets and have made a great start. We gave ABT a tall order in terms of deadline and they met it with a product that didn’t fall over. Job done, and done well!” Adam concluded.
